Wearing costumes at Disney.

Pirates enjoying their birthday at the Crystal Palace
Wearing costumes is not new at Disney world.   But these gals have taken it to a new level.  Lots of people wear hats and such that they buy at Disney to wear in the parks.  You can have more fun making up your own costumes and the bonus is, that it is a lot cheaper.   Disney started promoting the pirate dress up after seeing visitors dressing up in pirate costumes.  It is expensive to go that route.  With a little of your own imagination you can make your own costumes around whatever theme your heart desires.  We always do a different theme each day.  Sometimes we dress up for the ride, the park we are attending, or the restaurant that we will be having our meal at.  It brings your enjoyment up a notch or two. Plus all of the planning and shopping around for the right stuff is fun before the trip. I remember a trip to cape cod with my aunt and cousin.  We spent the time in the car thinking of things to put on our tee shirts, or thinking up a new theme.  My aunt and cousin were full of ideas.  The memories will last and last.  The best vacations I have had were the ones were we all dressed up.  The responses from cast members to other park goers is just amazing.
One one trip we were in the magic kingdom dressed as pirates, it started to rain and we all ran for  cover.  I met this family from Ireland.  They had two children, one was in a wheelchair around 4-5 years old.  She took a liking to me and was soon in my lap.  She would say," Boo, Did I frighten you?" in her childish irish ascent.  We chatted for the next 30 min.  My group had to leave as we had a dinner reservation.  Well that little Irish gal wanted to come and live with us pirates.  She thought we were real pirates.  She told her parents, " I want to go and live with the pirates." It was difficult to leave her behind, but with a yo and ho off we went on to the next adventure.   Becky B.
